Position Summary
Our client is seeking an experienced Project Accountant to support project teams and provide financial oversight throughout the project lifecycle. This role combines project accounting, billing, budgeting, and general accounting responsibilities while partnering closely with operational teams to ensure financial accuracy and project success.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable collaborating with both financial and non-financial stakeholders. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to process improvements while working in a collaborative and team-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle project accounting responsibilities for assigned projects.
- Monitor project budgets, costs, profitability, and financial performance.
- Partner with project managers and operational teams to provide financial guidance and reporting.
- Prepare and manage client invoicing and project billing activities.
- Review project contracts and ensure billing aligns with contractual requirements.
- Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end close activities.
- Reconcile project-related financial transactions and maintain accurate records.
- Generate financial reports and project performance analyses.
- Assist with forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning initiatives.
- Support continuous improvement of accounting processes and procedures.
- Collaborate with multiple departments to ensure financial accuracy and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred.
- 2+ years of project accounting or related accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Experience with project-based accounting environments preferred.
- Proficiency with accounting and ERP systems.
- 2+ years of experience with Delktek Vantagepoint
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a professional services, consulting, engineering, construction, or project-based organization.
- Experience with project budgeting, forecasting, and contract billing.
- Exposure to process improvement initiatives and workflow optimization.
